DELAWARE COUNTY-  Michael Brodzinski went to a baseball game Monday night not expecting to put to use the CPR training he had received as a member of the Folcroft Borough Darby Fire Company.  He attends Academy Park High School, which is located in Sharon Hill, Delaware County.

Brodzinski was a participant in the game, but his play on the field would be eclipsed by his work on the field.  Brodzinski had just hit what looked like a sure double.  He rounded first and started heading to second base when he saw the umpire behind the plate suddenly collapse.  Brodzinksi never made it to second.  Instead, he headed straight to home plate to come to the aid of the fallen fire fighter.

Brodzinski applied life-saving CPR while everyone waited for the paramedics to come to the fallen Umpire’s aid.  His quick thinking may very well have saved a life.  The umpire was rushed to the hospital and is now listed in stable condition.
